Work with your heart,
Walk with your heart,
Talk with your heart,
Think with your heart.
Swami Vignanananda
Swami Vignanananda
Swami Vignanananda (June 14, 1933 - March 2, 2008) was the
Founder of Yogalayam and Prana Yoga Centres International. Swami-ji was a world-renowned Grandmaster of Meditation, Pranayama, Hatha Yoga, and Yoga Vedanta Philosophy. Born in South India, Swami-ji began practicing Yoga at an early age and was graced by the close guidance of two great Gurus, Swami Sivananda Saraswati of Rishikesh, Himalayas, and Paramahamsa Sachidanandha Yogeeswarar of Bangalore. For nearly 50 years, Swami-ji taught and counseled thousands of students seeking happier, more harmonious lives, traveling extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. His divinely inspired writings have been published in English, Tamil, German, Japanese, Danish, and Hebrew.
Swami Vignanananda's dedicated disciple, Saraswathi Devi, inherited the Directorship at his Mahasamādhi (honorable death) in 2008.
Swami-ji inspired each student to find their own truth within, through direct experience from regular practice, and to bring the ancient Yoga teachings into the societies of the complex modern world through compassionate, selfless service. His teachings were deeply rooted in the ancient Vedic tradition of the Indian Subcontinent, as articulated in such writings as the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Patanjali Yoga Sutras. In accordance with Swami-ji’s vision, Prana Yoga programs are primed to serve people of all ages, races, gender identities, cultures and traditions, all life circumstances, and socioeconomic statuses, all
abilities, capacities, and neurodiversity expressions - whatever their interests may be.
